We have all been to school! Watching these birds at 'flying school' was so fascinating...The students were so orderly, and learnt so well and quickly...the timing was right.  They were so cute...there is always that one little student who captures the hearts of all...Taking time out of ones hectic life to enjoy nature and realize we are a part of nature is so important.

My staff loves to add their little 'flare' to the table. After all....Food is an art, even peanut butter...smile...the more creative the presentation of your meals the more enjoyable the ritual of 'eating'. Guava Jelly is an all Jamaicans favourite!

We are an amazing culture!

We are known all over the world for our Food, our Music, our Dance, our Beaches,
our Beauty and our Art.  Our Art work is featured mostly in Kingston. Tourist are
generally a bit apprehensive to venture into Kingston, our Capital.  Understandable,
as the news around the world is not very encouraging. However, when I travel, I do
tend to take guided tours as not only do I learn and see so much but I am a lot more
comfortable...Life!

I met a lady, Karen,  who has recently started a company, hoping to open not only
our tourist eyes to a wonderful 'Cultural Experience.' in Kingston but also our fellow
Jamaicans. This is so exciting.... http://www.jaculture.com/ ....Congrats!

But...Life is truly a journey to be enjoyed as were it not for Karin I would not have met Karen...Smile...the two K's...!!

Karin is on her own path http://www.yardedge.net/
An update on The Happenings in Jamaica! As you will all notice we will be eating
our way through next week...yes...It's Restaurant Week, which  has now expanded
to many Restaurants on the North Coast..More of our culture for visitors to enjoy.

Spanish Cove, Runaway Bay, Jamaica

As a Quilter, we are constantly looking for ideas amongst nature.
On the beach of Spanish Cove, I see a small pile of stones,
with different shapes, sizes and textures,
each with its own beauty, each unique.
Not dissimilar to Life...

We spent the weekend at our cottage deliberating over all our potentials for improvements.

Here the fisherman comes ashore bringing the 'catch' of the day.

Fishermen live in their own world.
Out to sea at nights they go
with a lantern that twinkles from afar
maybe they will catch, maybe they will not
it matters not - tomorrow a new day dawns

The fisherman caught Lobster!
We bought some Lobster which was cooked to perfection by our chef, Pauline.
Lobster, in Jamaica, has its own distinct taste.
It is a 'must have' for our visitors.

Enjoy!

It has been a long time since I have written.......
We have been busy dreaming dreams, and dreams they have been.
It's so healthy to dream as it becomes an amazing self discovery journey.

What is important to you while on Vacation by the Seaside?

Spanish Cove Beach Cottage

While on holiday we read a lot...I have just read the last of
Steig Larsson's novel 'The Girl who Kicked The Hornet's Nest'.
The trilogy is a must read! Thus far 4 persons in our household
have read these gripping novel. We each became so absorbed in
Salander Lisbeth life we would rush to find a quiet nook as
conversing with anyone was just not desirous.

Criticism is a misconception: we must read not to understand others but to understand ourselves.
Emile M. Cioran

For those who have stopped by on my blog, welcome!

Our Verandah -

We have just returned back to Kingston after a month at our new Beach Cottage.

The verandah is so cool throughout the day, the missing item....a hammock or 'day bed' where one can relax, read and doze ...We ponder on the changes .....a larger verandah? hmmm...

Our Living Room -

Awaiting a jute rug and hope to change the mirror -
Our Living Room is so comfortable, we mostly listen to music on  IPod Bose system. Each member of the family have their own IPod .....most convenient ..Hence, our Flat Screen is hardly turned on for Cable but certainly enjoyed for movies.

Colour has always fascinated me. The psychology of colour -
We love Blue and White...particularly by the seaside.
it's so calming, peaceful and pure

"Blue is the only colour which maintains its own character in all its tones....it will always stay Blue;  whereas yellow is blackened in its shades and fades away when lightened; red when darkened becomes brown and diluted with white is no longer red, but another colour - pink." - Raoul Duffy, French Fauvist Painter, 1877-1953

Sunset at Spanish Cove Cottage

We are at our Cottage in Runaway Bay, Jamaica in the bosom of our family!
Each day has been an amazing journey. We sit on our private white sand
beach enjoying the sunset. Some days more magnificent than others!

Spanish Cove Beach Cottage Runaway Bay, Jamaica - Sunset

While sipping our cocktails we are mesmerized by the beauty of nature. Creation is so beautifully woven into the fabric of Life.

This property has amazing potential. As we are all together with our family we have spent
many hours exploring the different creative angles....It is so much fun. As a mother its fascinating listening to the different ideas of our three children and their companions.
It has truly been an insight into their soul.....

What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?

Swing

This is the home for my swing! The swing is not perfectly balanced, however by the end of summer it will be.....any advice for a perfect swing?

I know.....the grass is usually mowed...I was just anxious to take the photo.

We are collecting our books to read while relaxing at 'Spanish Cove'.
Although we have TV, as a family, we love to read, play board games, dominoes
and of course bridge.

Will keep you up to date on our novels.

Reading is sometimes an ingenious device for avoiding thought

WELCOME......A home away from home.....

Home is where you can be amongst people whose relationships you treasure....family and friends.

I sit and look yonder - out at sea - the elderly fisherman in his boat at peace with himself and the world. He can not hear the waves, he can not hear the sounds of nature. He feels the movements of the water, he feels the tug on his line - out at sea- he's at home.

The fisherman brings back to shore, fish and Lobster.

I buy the catch of the day and enjoy!!
