A New Year has begun - The Year 2014

Spanish Cove Villa Jamaica

The year '2014' has a ring to my ears and heart.

Thus far, the weather has not been particularly great -
for us locals, we are not complaining as we do enjoy the
cooler climate, however,
my heart goes out to our guests who have saved for
a beautiful sunny vacation away from the cold.

Nonetheless, guests have enjoyed kayaking and riding
the waves. There is something so mesmerizing about
the waves lapping on the sand taking out to sea the grains
of sand, bringing back further ashore and more...
only to return again to sea!

Time passes, the mind relaxes..

We have all been to school! Watching these birds at 'flying school' was so fascinating...The students were so orderly, and learnt so well and quickly...the timing was right.  They were so cute...there is always that one little student who captures the hearts of all...Taking time out of ones hectic life to enjoy nature and realize we are a part of nature is so important.

My staff loves to add their little 'flare' to the table. After all....Food is an art, even peanut butter...smile...the more creative the presentation of your meals the more enjoyable the ritual of 'eating'. Guava Jelly is an all Jamaicans favourite!

We are an amazing culture!

We are known all over the world for our Food, our Music, our Dance, our Beaches,
our Beauty and our Art.  Our Art work is featured mostly in Kingston. Tourist are
generally a bit apprehensive to venture into Kingston, our Capital.  Understandable,
as the news around the world is not very encouraging. However, when I travel, I do
tend to take guided tours as not only do I learn and see so much but I am a lot more
comfortable...Life!

I met a lady, Karen,  who has recently started a company, hoping to open not only
our tourist eyes to a wonderful 'Cultural Experience.' in Kingston but also our fellow
Jamaicans. This is so exciting.... http://www.jaculture.com/ ....Congrats!

But...Life is truly a journey to be enjoyed as were it not for Karin I would not have met Karen...Smile...the two K's...!!

Karin is on her own path http://www.yardedge.net/
An update on The Happenings in Jamaica! As you will all notice we will be eating
our way through next week...yes...It's Restaurant Week, which  has now expanded
to many Restaurants on the North Coast..More of our culture for visitors to enjoy.

As a Quilter, we are constantly looking for ideas amongst nature.
On the beach of Spanish Cove, I see a small pile of stones,
with different shapes, sizes and textures,
each with its own beauty, each unique.
Not dissimilar to Life...

We spent the weekend at our cottage deliberating over all our potentials for improvements.

Here the fisherman comes ashore bringing the 'catch' of the day.

Fishermen live in their own world.
Out to sea at nights they go
with a lantern that twinkles from afar
maybe they will catch, maybe they will not
it matters not - tomorrow a new day dawns

The fisherman caught Lobster!
We bought some Lobster which was cooked to perfection by our chef, Pauline.
Lobster, in Jamaica, has its own distinct taste.
It is a 'must have' for our visitors.

It has been a long time since I have written.......
We have been busy dreaming dreams, and dreams they have been.
It's so healthy to dream as it becomes an amazing self discovery journey.

What is important to you while on Vacation by the Seaside?

Spanish Cove Beach Cottage

While on holiday we read a lot...I have just read the last of
Steig Larsson's novel 'The Girl who Kicked The Hornet's Nest'.
The trilogy is a must read! Thus far 4 persons in our household
have read these gripping novel. We each became so absorbed in
Salander Lisbeth life we would rush to find a quiet nook as
conversing with anyone was just not desirous.

Criticism is a misconception: we must read not to understand others but to understand ourselves.
Emile M. Cioran

For those who have stopped by on my blog, welcome!
